Project Extension 2 Kicks off

In September 2011 Huzhou Municipality hosted a Kick-off Workshop for Extension 2: Policy Orientated Optimisation of Wastewater Treatment in Lake Tai. The Extension includes a review of the WWT Framework in the Basin; demonstrations of dynamic modelling (using BioWin) at Wuzhong District Treatment Plant, Suzhou and ShiBei District Treatment Plant; and engagement between Chinese and Australian Agencies on opportunities for improved wastewater treatment. Key implementing partners include the National Development and Reform Commission’s International Cooperation Centre, Suzhou and Huzhou Municipalities; the AUS Lake Tai Cluster; Hunter Water Corporation; Hunter Water Australia; and the Jiangsu Academy of Environmental Sciences.
Project Extension 1 Kicks off

The Project Extension Kick-off Workshop on the Policy Application of Catchment Modelling and Non Point Source Pollution Management was conducted in Suzhou between the 12th and 14th of July 2011. The kick-off workshop included a high level workshop; visits to selected demonstration sites; and a series of meetings to confirm details for project implementation. Key implementing partners include the National Development and Reform Commission’s International Cooperation Centre, Suzhou Municipality; the AUS Lake Tai Cluster (Earth Systems; eWater Cooperative Research Centre; Ellinbank Research Centre - Department of Primary Industries; and Melbourne Water); and the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Demonstration sites selected for the Extension include Dongshan Peninsula (Source Catchments) and Xingeng Village Farm, Xiangcheng District (Bayesian Networks).
eWater Cooperative Research Centre joins the Lake Tai Water Pollution Treatment Project

eWater is working with the AUS Lake Tai Cluster on the implementation of Project Extension 1: Policy Application of Catchment Modelling and Non Point Source Pollution Management. The aim of the Project Extension is to further contribute to informed evidence-based government policy and decision making through demonstrating the application of Source Catchments software in the context of the Lake Tai Basin. Lake Tai Project Follow-up Activity: Integrated River Basin Management Study Tour to Australia
A delegation of fifteen officials from China attended a study tour to Australia on Integrated River Basin Management between March 20th and March 31st 2011.
