13th World Lake Conference Wuhan
Over 1,000 global participants from research institutes and universities, companies, stakeholders, and government authorities attended the 13th World Lake Conference in Wuhan between 1 and 5 November 2009. The conference concentrated on the theme of “Rehabilitate the Lake Ecosystem”, with ambulant research papers, speeches and discussions on themes such as lake restoration, integrated basin management, nutrient treatment and management, algal monitoring and control, and policy framework.
On November 2nd, Mr. Nigel Murphy, Director of Earth Systems, represented Australia Urban Systems (AUS) and delivered a designated speech on “ACEDP Lake Tai Water Pollution Treatment Project”. The speech included the introduction of ACEDP and the Lake Tai Project, as well as Australian experiences and practices in integrated basin management, water treatment, and remediation and control of algal blooms. The speech attracted a lot of attention and Mr. Nigel Murphy was honored to receive a brief interview from Wuhan TV Station. During the interview Mr. Murphy emphasized the importance of applying comprehensive strategies and techniques in lake treatment in China. The website link to his interview is listed below.
