Objectives
The activity aims to promote high level policy linkages and information exchange between relevant Chinese and Australian agencies within the area of water resource management.
Key Activities / Components
1) Structured meeting on topics of mutual interest:
• Water governance and planning in Australia
• Climate change impacts on water planning
• Water information for water planning
• Water entitlement and trading
2) Open discussion on issues arising from the structured meeting
3) Memorandum of Understanding discussion between MWR and DEWHA
4) Study tour of practical examples of the issues discussed in the meeting
Contribution to ACEDP Program Outcomes
The activity will be an important event in further intensifying the partnership between the two water environment-related national ministries and to have mutual policy influences in the environment fields of the two countries.
Highlights
Participation by very senior level officials in the meeting on both sides including vice minister of MWR, secretary of DEWHA and parliamentary secretary demonstrated significant importance of the event from the high-level policy perspective.
