Objectives
The objectives of the event are to provide a platform for demonstration of Australian water sector services as well as ACEDP projects, and to explore new cooperation projects in the water field between the two countries.
Key Activities / Components
1. Participating in the opening ceremony of the 4th IYRF and the major congress;
2. To sponsor the Sino-Australia Session on Water Resources Management, Education, Trade and Business, which will include technical exchange symposium, ACEDP program/activity demonstration ceremonies and industry exhibition;
3. Formal launch of ACEDP’s Large Irrigation Systems Project and presentation by the Implementation Team on objectives and approach;
4. Field visits by groups.
Contribution to ACEDP Program Outcomes
The project will promote water environment policy dialogue between agencies from the two countries by introducing ACEDP on-going activities and demonstrating Australian practices in implementing water environment policies.
Highlights
The event was carried out successfully on 21 Oct 2009 in Zhengzhou. H.E. Dr Geoff Raby, the Australian Ambassador to China, and Mr. Michael Taylor, the Chair of Murray Darling Basin Authority and Mr. Gao Bo, Director General, Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology, Ministry of Water Resources, P.R.C, attended the opening session. 40 Australian delegates came from the Australian Embassy, Australian companies in China, Australian educate and research agencies, Australian irrigation companies, and the PCO. About 80 Chinese experts represented by MWR, YRCC, water resource research institutes, universities and administrative agencies.
