Objectives
The program aims to promote effective and sustainable development of the water and environmental resources in the Mekong region through capacity building of professionals. China’s participation will strengthen her important status as a dialogue partner to the Mekong River Commission and promote regional collaboration between China and MRC member countries on data sharing, navigational aids and other aspects of river management.
Key Activities / Components
The programme will be delivered through a number of delivery modes, including a mix of short courses, field visits, facilitated meetings and participatory workshops, engaging with a wide range of Australian water authorities, industry partners, teaching and research institutions.
Contribution to ACEDP Program Outcomes
The activity is envisaged to enhance capacity of policy makers and professionals in groundwater management, and to promote potential policy dialogue and ongoing exchange between China and other Mekong subregion countries in integrated groundwater management issues.
Highlights
ACEDP funded 4 participants from MWR and YEPD at both policy and professional levels in the area of water resources management particularly in groundwater management to participate in the program with another 17 AusAID ALAF-funded participants from Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam.
