Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is a central component of development activities as it enables individuals and organizations to effectively track progress and to measure performance and impact of activities in achieving program outcomes and goals and to report against these.
The purpose of the Australia China Environment Development Partnership (ACEDP) is to improve environmental protection and natural resource management policies (in particular water) to balance the needs of environment and human development in China. In the process of balancing the needs of the environment and human development, it is important to assess the impacts ACEDP is having in achieving this outcome and to assess the quality of activities and their contribution.
The ACEDP M&E Framework uses a simple approach to M&E that focuses on measuring impact at both the program and activity level. The inter-relation between these frameworks allows for a range of data and information to be collected and to present clear picture on the program progress. The M&E Framework is flexible and adaptive and will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure it remains relevant and relates to the various activities being funded and implemented through the ACEDP.
