ACEDP Annual Training & Retreat Workshop 2
23 - 24 April 2009 – ACEDP facilitated its second annual training & retreat workshop with the purpose of understanding findings from EAT’s ACEDP progress review and policy gap analysis and revised “Monitoring & Evaluation” (M&E) Frameworks to PCO staff and Chinese Core Partners, whilst also helping to strengthen understanding and communication between the PCO and Chinese Core Partner Agencies.
In total, 17 participants from AusAID, NDRC, MEP, MWR, SFA and the PCO attended the workshop. EAT member, Dr.Si Zhizhong gave a presentation on findings from EAT’s ACEDP progress review and policy gap analysis and ACEDP M&E specialist, Mr Ty Morrissey explained the revised MEF and proposed information flow.
The Program Manager, Mr. Gunther Mau, briefly introduced the up-to-date progress of ACEDP, proposed quarterly/biannual meetings and HLRT-3. Core partners were engaged in discussions on the issues addressed by EAT’s review, proposed meetings and improvement on communication and engagement actions.
Outcomes from the training and retreat workshop included a strengthening of understanding and communication between PCO and Chinese Core Partners, as well as an increased understanding of ACEDP progress review and policy gap analysis and M&E frameworks amongst the participants.
Ecological Conservation in Forestry – Brainstorming Workshop in Beijing 2 - 4 December 2008
The PCO and AusAID are organising a brainstorming workshop to explore a package of assistance for SFA to ‘monitor, evaluate and analyse current and future ecological conservation activities in Qinghai Province’ The workshop will bring together Chinese and Australian researchers and practitioners in the field and aims to develop a range of project proposals for submission to donor agencies. Donor agencies have been invited to attend.

15 – 16 May 2008 - ACEDP facilitated its first annual training & retreat workshop with the purpose of training PCO staff and Chinese Core Partners on the programs’“Monitoring & Evaluation” (M&E) and “Social Impact Management, Public Participation and Gender Mainstreaming” Frameworks, whilst also helping to strengthen understanding and communication between the PCO and Chinese Core Partner Agencies.
In total, 21 participants from AusAID, NDRC, MEP, MWR and the PCO attended the workshop. The Program Manager, Mr. Gunther Mau, briefly introduced the progress of ACEDP and the ongoing activities of the PCO. ACEDP M&E and Social Impact specialists gave a presentation on M&E, Social Impact, Gender Equality and Public Participation along with the specific related frameworks of the ACEDP. Core partners were engaged in discussions on how the program could help establish or improve existing agency M&E approaches and ways of mainstreaming social impact, gender equality and public participation issues into the relevant policy formulation and implementation. The Communication and Engagement strategy was also discussed during the Workshop.
Outcomes from the training and retreat workshop included a strengthening of understanding and communication between PCO and Chinese Core Partners, as well as an increased understanding of M&E and Social Impact frameworks amongst the participants. It was recommended the workshop occur annually or bi-annually, depending on program requirements.
ACEDP Chinese Partners Workshop
On 24 Aug 2007, the PCO hosted the ACEDP Chinese Partners Workshop in the Debao Hotel, Beijing. The Workshop discussed the Chinese priorities for consideration under the 1st Annual Plan, agreed on a Chinese national approach towards the ACEDP, and established an inter-agency consultative coordination mechanism. A total of 41 participants from MOFCOM, Chinese Core Partner Agencies (NDRC, MWR, SEPA and SFA), the Australian Embassy Beijing and relevant institutions attended the workshop. ACEDP Australian Partners Workshop
On 7 Aug 2007, the PCO hosted the ACEDP Australian Partners Workshop at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra. The workshop introduced the aims and objectives of ACEDP to relevant Australian Partner agencies, and examined the planned process for engaging Australian partners with the Program in mutually beneficial partnership activities. In total, 39 participants from the Australian Government, Australian Core Partner agencies,the private Business sector, Universities and institutions were in attendance.
